In this conversation, I realized aloud that all of our kids' major medical "incidents" had happened while they were not in my care, but under supervision of Daddy, a babysitter, or a friend. I then had the audacity to exclaim that I must be a pretty diligent parent to prevent such accidents. At this point, I caught my daughter's face in the rearview mirror, where she was rolling her eyes.
"What?" I asked.
"Well...it's just that you think you're such a good mom because none of those injuries happened when you were around."
"Yeah? So?"
"Mom, where were you?"
Such a smart girl! I remember the elbow incident. We were all there it just happened that daddy plays rougher. I also remember a distraught mommy.
