Gavin walked in first and told me to pull out his loose tooth. Then he smiled his big grin and I saw a freshly vacant red hole. "You lost your tooth at school!" That elevates you to first grade stardom. He then presented a teeny little treasure chest bearing his tooth. "I'm not going to put it under my bed until my birthday (in December) so I can get double the money!" Okay, that makes perfect sense in tooth fairy logic.
Then Alex bounded in, "I got invited to a birthday party!" "Whose?" I asked. She pulled out an invitation and read a girl's name who I had never heard of. "Who's that?" She replied, "I don't know, I just found this on the ground. But I thought it would be fun to go anyway!" She then laughed her hyena-hyper laugh and talked about all the fun she'd have party crashing Boomers on May 14th. I apologize to whoever was intended to get that invitation.
Gracie and Blake then toddled in, and neighbor friend Kelly who brought them home explained to me that Miss Karyn said Gracie is not allowed to return to school until her mother buys her some shoes that actually fit, because it breaks her heart to see the little red stretch marks across her feet each week. What they don't understand is that my little chunkers Gracie wears an 8 1/2 WW, but no toddler shoe store seems to get the WW part of 8 1/2WW. Thus the red marks. Oh well, I guess it's time to pull out the next size of hand me downs. When I turned around to see Gracie, it became apparent that nothing "fits her right" as she had stripped down buck naked and tore off down the street amidst school traffic.
And Blake was bouncing off the walls in the background, as usual. I asked him how preschool went and got the usual slight frown. (rub it in, Blake, rub that guilt in!) He told me he didn't play with anyone there and when I asked why not, he said, "Because I didn't want to." "So what did you do?" I asked. "I played walkie talkies!" he exclaimed, then produced a walkie talkie from his pocket. Contraband.
My day was very quiet and productive until they walked in. But the little balls of energy always make my house and world come alive when they come home.
I LOVE Them!! Miss you guys! xoxo
