"Mom, how do you smile?" my 5-year-old son asks, staring at our recent family photo.
"Blake, you know how to smile better than anyone I know," I reply, thinking of his killer grin and adorable dimples. Hands down, Blake has the best smile in our household – one that regularly redeems him from whatever surface he just broke, drew on or climbed.
"Yeah, but not in this picture. Look. In this picture, my smile isn't real."
As I look at the photo, I'm introduced to a sad truth – Blake has inherited the same pitifully fake smile that hijacks his uncle's face every time someone pulls out a camera. I hide my own smile at this genetic tragedy.
